Description

  1. Quad9 nation of incorporation is Switzerland, not US (see https://www.quad9.net/news/blog/quad9-public-domain-name-service-moves-to-switzerland-for-maximum-internet-privacy-protection)

  2. The "Server Locations" column should probably be set to a map link. We have anycast locations in around 176 data centers, in 92 nations, and that number changes quickly. Our map is https://www.quad9.net/locations/ and it may be more appropriate to link to maps since I would expect most providers to start supplying maps of anycast locations.

  3. The answer to the "Logging" column is more appropriately set to "No", or the word "Logging" needs better description. Please see the privacy policy for details.

  4. The "Filtering" column should be "Based on server choice" - we offer non-blocking options (see https://www.quad9.net/support/faq#services)

  5. The Source Code column should have four entries, as we use (unmodified) four basic software platforms for our DNS resolution: dnsdist (https://github.com/PowerDNS/pdns), PowerDNS recursor (https://github.com/PowerDNS/pdns), Unbound (https://github.com/NLnetLabs/unbound), and BIND (https://github.com/isc-projects/bind9)

  6. The "Hosting Provider" column should be "Self, Packet Clearing House (https://www.pch.net/), i3D (https://www.i3d.net/) and Global Secure Layer (https://globalsecurelayer.com/) - we use all of these methods for primary delivery of DNS responses today.

Why I am making the suggestion

I hope to have Quad9 more accurately described, and the current data is quite old.

My connection with the software

I am the General Manager of Quad9.

  • [ x] I will keep the issue up-to-date if something I have said changes or I remember a connection with the software.
