Basic Information
Name: Hetzner Cloud
Category: Providers\Hosting
URL: https://hetzner.[de/com]
Description
Hetzner is a Germany-based cloud hosting service offering VPS, Dedicated Servers, managed hosting, etc. They run off of green energy.
Via privacy badger I have yet to find any trackers on their site and they claim to use Matomo and they allow you to opt out too.
They send the following data to third parties:
Credit Card information
Domain registration
Both are required to handle this software and I think it's reasonable.
Why I am making the suggestion
Hetzner is an outstanding host. I have yet to find one better than it in terms of value and I much appreciate that it's carbon neutral and that it seems to be much more privacy friendly compared to Vultr, DigitalOcean, Azure, GCP, etc.
My connection with the software
I have been actively using Hetzner for around a month now and have multiple friends who endorse it too.
Hetzner does seem to host a lot of spammers. At least the density of SPAM I find on my mail servers originating from Hetzner IPs does make it unlikely that all of it is from poor victims of intrusion and malware.
If you send an e-Mail to abuse@hetzner.com providing full details in a professional manner, you will be ignored and directed to using their web form for reporting abuse. That has two major deficiencies:
Overall, in my view, this behavior is DISGUSTING and a SHAME. It does not warrant any recommendation of such provider.
I was unaware of that. Thanks for letting me know.
