Basic Information
Name: Syndie
Category: Social Network Aggregators
URL: https://syndie.de/
Description
Syndie is an open source system for operating distributed forums, offering a secure and consistent interface to various anonymous and non-anonymous content networks. Think UseNet and forums but distributed between peers and using anonymous routing such as Tor, I2P, Freenet, MixMaster, etc. Posts cannot be censored as they can be restored by anyone with a local copy.
It is open source (can be downloaded here at the bottom of the page) and is licensed under BSD license.
Why I am making the suggestion
It's an old software that for some reason is not known outside of some circles it seems. I tested a bit and although the UI is quite old, it still works very well and is still used nowadays by some communities.
My connection with the software
None.
It says last release was 2016/08/14, not sure how secure or good it is keeping in mind there are some up to date alternatives.
True that it would be better if it was updated, and I think it wouldn't be too difficult since it's relying on self contained networks to provide anonymity guarantees.
What alternatives are you referring to? Because I didn't see any, it looks pretty unique to me.
