Description
Flat Habits, a habit tracker to aid forming and tracking positive lasting habits.
Why I am making the suggestion
After reading the book Atomic Habits, I was inclined to start tracking my habits (as recommended by the book). I tried different solutions on iPhone, but neither met my needs:
I built an app for iOS to satisfy the above criteria.
All habit data in Flat Habits can be viewed as a plain text file formatted by org markup. There are no server componets to this app at all. No account, no login, no social, and no analytics.
My connection with the software
I am the author.
Is it libre?
It isn't. Not now anyway.
Do you plan on releasing the source code at some point, @xenodium? I doubt it will get added if it is proprietary keeping in mind there are libre alternatives in F-droid.
I'm still considering it, though not currently in a position to take on the additional responsibility of maintaining an open source project. At present, I'd like to focus available time/energy to building a great user experience for the app (with privacy and simplicity at its core).
I understand. If it helps ease lock-in concerns, all habit data is saved to a portable text file. Can be inspected and taken elsewhere at any time. Also no server components to this app (at all). App is built natively for iOS btw.
If your issue is related to not having time to deal with issues or PRs, you can always have the code freely accesible without having to deal with this, there are a number of projects that work like this. Still, it is your choice and I don't want to look like I am pressuring you.
It is good to know, in the end you will have to wait for PT people to decide, I don't own an iOS so maybe there is no better solution for it, I can't investigate it.
I'm not sure, what are your thoughts @privacytools/editorial
