Basic Information
Name: MeshCentral (v2)
Category: Productivity Tools
URL: https://meshcentral.com/info/
Description
MeshCentral is an open source remote desktop software, with a relay server built on NodeJS and available freely on NPM. No network configuration is necessary as it uses reverse UDP hole punching. Clients connect from any OS and device using no software, only a web browser is required. A public instance is available although it can be self-hosted. All data is encrypted by default via TLS and quantum computing resistant hashing algorithms (SHA385,
AES256 and RSA3072). See also this doc for additional technical infos on the network architecture. 2FA is supported. The server and management agent run on Windows, Linux, MacOS and FreeBSD.
Note that contrary to many other remote desktop softwares, all the components of this one are open-source (agents, clients, relay server).
Why I am making the suggestion
With remote working now being more prevalent than ever, using a remote desktop software to either access work computers or provide assistance has become commonplace. Most use proprietary softwares such as TeamViewer who can collect and use users data however they please.
My connection with the software
None, just a user.
Also worth mentioning is TacticalRMM, a companion software to administer a MeshCentral network of computers.
