Basic Information
Name: Sharik
Category: File Sharing
URL: https://github.com/marchellodev/sharik
Description
Sharik makes the user able to share files under the same network. Files like jpg, png, gif, android apks, zip, rar, 7z, pdf, txt are supported, available for Linux systems, Android and others.
Why I am making the suggestion
There's no centralized server. This software would work well along with Briar.
Sharing videos isn't possible, there's no supoort for bluetooth connection and there's no encryption under roaming connection at the moment.
My connection with the software
There's no connections between me and the developer.
Sounds like a nice software but IMHO it doesn't add any value in terms of functionality or privacy compared to other already listed solutions such as wormhole, which works across the internet with just an ID and can send files of any size in a P2P manner and can bypass firewalls, and OnionShare which is fully privacy-friendly and can also share files of any size but is a bit more cumbersome.
I'm not part of the PTIO team but it is my understanding that for new apps to be listed, they either need to provide at least as many features (ie, being an alternative) or something more/new in terms of ergonomy or privacy compared to already existing solutions. Or if previously listed solutions are outdated because they are deprecated/unmaintained, this happens too.
