Basic Information

**Name: Olvid
**Category: Real-Time Communication
**URL: https://www.olvid.io

Description

Olvid is a secure instant messaging application similar in its functionnalities to many other in-stant messaging applications like WhatsApp, Signal, Citadel, etc.

Potential "strengths"

  • No trust in servers
  • Forward Secrecy
  • Anonymity
  • Metadata encryption
  • Ongoing CSPN audit and bug bounty

Why I am making the suggestion

Looks like a promising new messenger, they plan on integrating post-quantum crypto.
Wondering if it has a real advantage over others.

My connection with the software

None.
Just found it while browsing.

[X] I will keep the issue up-to-date if something I have said changes or I remember a connection with the software.

Closed source is a real downer for them. We have good open-source solutions listed and I am not sure there is a benefit to including a closed-source alternative.

Will be nice to see what the audit says regardless.
